Loremesia

Loremesia (Loremese: Λopєmєʒϝα, Loremesia [lo.rə.ˈmja.ʑə]), officially the Loremese Free State (Loremese: Λopєmєʒϝ Elαydєpᴛo Kpϝᴛєʒ, Loremesi Elauderto Crites [lo.rə.ˈmja.zə e.ləu.ˈdʑart ˈkri.təs]) is a state located off the western coast of Brausia. It shares maritime borders with Hallei to the north, Azkali to the northwest and the Chikos states of Garistan, Davidria, Rosiastan and Henralia to the south. Its capital city is Oreino, and its most populous city is Çatasedra.

History

Prehistory

The Loremese islands had been continuously inhabited since at least 3000 BC, though the earliest ancestors of the modern Loremese are hypothesised to have migranted from mainland Brausia in around 1500 BC, and the oldest recognisably Loremese artifacts can be traced back to that time. According to an old foundation myth, the islands were first unified by a legendary king in 1213 BC, who waged war on the Kalis of the northernmost islands, however the historicity of this myth remains disputed.

Ancient Loremesia

Starting around 1000 BC, Loremesia was divided into independent competing city states, most of which were naval powers. During this time, trade with Hallei and coastal Azkali flourished and trading posts were established. Attempts were made by several city states, especially Mavortino, to settle mainland Brausia, however these ventures were shortlived.
