The 2nd Paradigm Shift was a major shift in thought, culture, art, philosophy, and ideology, following the 1980 Azkali Plague. It followed the 1st Paradigm Shift, in the 1950s and 1960s.

Artistic Ramifications

For a more detailed explanation of the artistic ramifications of the 2nd Paradigm Shift, see: Effects of the 2nd Paradigm Shift on Azkali Art

After the end of the 1980 Azkali Plague, death as a general topic in art became much more vivid, frequent, and unrestrained.

Political Ramifications

Following the outbreak, and subsequent deaths of approximately sixty-percent of the Azkali population, almost 25 million people, Azkali politics shifted massively to both extremes of the political compass. With the re-establishment of an Azkali nation-state, far left and far right political parties became mainstream, as the remaining Azkali populace became increasingly radicalized to both sides.
