Kalis evolved from the Atakokali, a hybrid species which first appeared c. 1.3 million years ago as the result of contact and mating between Qoxonits and Kaneeds. This hybridization is noteworthy due to the fact that the last recent common ancestor lived between [abc]—[xyz] million years ago.
