Ari Peiderezek: Difference between revisions

All throughout 1999, the Turku region experienced a drought. In December, a red flag warning was issued for the entire metropolitan area, due to high wind conditions. In the night of 6 December 1999, his 17th birthday, a fire erupted in the barracks; in the chaos, Peiderezek, along with several other slaves, were able to escape the Bartsinan quarry. Peiderezek fled on foot for several hours, before being found by the family of 16 year old [yamahati], whom at the time were vacationing in Turku. Peiderezek and [yamahti] left Turku and drove to the town of [xyz], in Yamahat, where the [yamahati] family resided. There after, Peiderezek was adopted by their family, but rarely left their house, as the town was hostile to kalis. He was taught to read and write in Baphian, and later the Yamahati Baphian language.  

Peiderezek first heard music in mid-1999; specifically, he heard the song [xyz] of the Baphian rock band Jowemu Kyezupe. Peiderezek described his experience in his biography ''Blackstar'': <blockquote>It was an ethereal experience, first listening to music. It still remains vivid in my mind, more vivid than anything. It was eleven in the morning, I had woken up hours earlier, and she [yamahati mother] had finished helping me take a bath. I suddenly heard muted, aggressive noise coming from the living room. Me, in the bathroom, flinched and almost broke down in tears; I was reminded of quarry noises. She was confused as to why I was breaking down in tears, but regardless comforted me — eventually, she asked me what the matter was, and I asked, through my tears, what the noise was. She frowned and looked at me. "It's music," she said. I had heard the word but never even knew what music was: I simply had never heard any music before, no singing or playing of any kind. Slowly, I dressed and made my way to the living room of the house, where I sat down on the couch next to [yamahati]. He was watching a music video of the band Jowemu Kyezupe. I had never even conceptualized anything like them. I leaned into him as I listened, perplexed. "I want to listen to music for the rest of my life", I decided then. </blockquote>Peiderezek began to obsessively listen to music, so much so that [yamahati mother] and staged an intervention, where in [yamahati mother] asked Peiderezek why he was "so obssesed with it [music]"; Peiderezek responded, "it fascinates me". He began to curate his tastes in music primary towards electronic music, mostly post-disco and dance-pop, and alternative rock. As he listened to music, he became inspired to create his own music, though was hampered by the lack of musical training. As such, practically as soon as he became literate in Baphian, he learned how to read music, learned to play the piano, and began receiving vocal lessons from [yamahati mother]. At the same time, Peiderezek discovered the internet, interacting on music-centered forums.  

Peiderezek was born with AzADHD, colloquially known as "Azkali disorder", a congenital variant of ADHD which originates from mothers who had at in the past contracted the Azkali plague. Peiderezek was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in December of 2007. Peiderezek struggles with social interaction and social communication, and he describes himself as a "moderate autistic person". As a result, his personal behavior was, and to an extent still is the subject of widespread tabloid speculation, being exemplified by his difficulty connecting with fans and sponsers, his sometimes brutal honesty — most notably demonstrated during a 2009 interview with [oprah winfrey] when he asked [oprah winfrey] to speak quieter, because "[her] voice [was] too loud" (Peiderezek later apologized to [oprah winfrey] for this comment and called it "unacceptable" ), and eccentric behaviors at concerts.
