The Helnian calendar is the calendar of Sunteria and Iquistia. It is a lunisolar calendar.

Epoch

The epoch of the Helnian calendar is O.S. 20 December 1127 B.C.E. (N.S. 9 December 1127 B.C.E.). The year began by the epoch is traditionally seen as the year in which Pertmažo was founded, but modern historians believe that the founding of Pertmažo might have occurred several years earlier. Years before the epoch are Ioher Pra rai Tpelhai (I.P.T.) and years of or after it are Ioher Tpelhau (I.T.).

Months

In common years, there are twelve months. In leap years, there are thirteen months. In English, the months are referred to by their Oikan names.

  • Neuia (Neu.): 30 days
  • Solmia (Sol.): 29 days (in thin years) or 30 days (in fat years)
  • Hmetmenia (Hmt.): 30 days
  • Uoihnia (Uoi.): 29 days
  • Loubia (Lou.): 30 days
  • Moreitia (Mor.): 29 days
  • Duskia (Dsk.): 30 days
  • Snoiguia (Sng.): 29 days
  • Gelia (Gel.): 30 days
  • Huersmenia (Hrs.): 29 days
  • Blehmia (Blm.): 30 days
  • Bloidia (Bld.): 29 days
  • Tridia (Trd.): 30 days (only occurs in leap years)

Leaping

Leap years are years in which the month of Tridia occurs. Leaping is based on the Metonic cycle (3-6-8-11-14-17-19 system).

Fat Years

Fat years are years in which the month of Solmia has thirty days. Every fifth year is fat. Years that are not fat are known as thin.

Days

Since the Industrial Revolution, days have began halfway between midnight and noon. Before the Industrial Revolution, days began at sunrise.
