The haban is a small drum usually
[[File:Janggu.jpg|thumb|119x119px|An average haban]]
The haban is a small drum usually placed on its side and played by hitting it with a mallet. It is usually split into 2 chambers connected together in an hourglass shape, one side being higher pitched and the other side being lower in pitch, there is no consistency on which side the pitches are on, but usually for more ease of play its usually the high-pitched side on the right and low-pitched one on the left.

It is likely the oldest indigenous instrument in Baphia, having several forms of percussion either deriving or evolving from it.
